The 1GW Blythe Solar Power Project would consist of four 250MW plants grouped together in the desert of eastern Riverside County, California, about 360km east of Los Angeles.
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar authorized the Bureau of Land Management to offer the company a 30-year right of way for 7,025 acres (28sq km) of public land on which to build the project.
