Q-Cells, which launched Sontor in 2006 to dip its toe in the thin-film pool, will hold 50% of the new Sunfilm’s shares. The rest will go to the old Sunfilm’s principal owners, with London-based renewables investor Good Energies holding 35%, and Norwegian wafer maker NorSun holding 15%.
The new Sunfilm will form the “central pillar in Q-Cells’ global strategy for thin-film technologies,” says Q-Cells board member Florian Holzapfel.
