The move is expected to create 70 jobs in the solar panel industry and 230 temporary construction jobs. The plant now employs 444 people.
Tedlar provides long-term durability and performance as a critical component on the back of solar panels, or backsheet. The backsheet is made as a laminated film composite, the most common being a tri-layer structure of Tedlar/polyester/Tedlar.
DuPont says this structure allows the fluoropolymer in the Tedlar to protect both sides of the polyester from photo-degradation, which increases a PV module’s lifespan.
