MBCE says the 4.65bn rupee ($95m) facility will provide power to 50,000 homes and is the first major project to be completed under the Indian state’s Solar Mission initiative.
Located in the district of Banaskantha, the plant is the biggest PV project to be commissioned so far in India, according to figures from Bloomberg New Energy Finance.
It is equipped with thin-film modules from a number of suppliers, including PV manufacturer Moser Baer Solar.
