The troubled 392MW Ivanpah concentrated solar power (CSP) project in California was hit with another setback when one of its three boiler towers was knocked offline by a small fire on 19 May. A second tower was already offline for maintenance, leaving just one in operation. Misaligned mirrors apparently focused the sun onto the wrong part of the receiver tower, causing electrical cables to catch fire, according to the Associated Press.
