Austin, Texas-based SolarBridge was the third largest supplier of microinverters to the US market last year in revenue terms, according to IHS, likely trailing market leader Enphase by a wide margin.
Venture capital-backed SolarBridge had already seen some investment from SunPower.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
California-based SunPower is the second largest US-based maker of solar modules, and a significant player in the downstream system-integration business – both at the rooftop and utility-scale levels.
