After being revived by the Obama Administration last June, the FutureGen effort was battered by the withdrawal of American Electric Power (AEP) and Southern Company from the FutureGen Alliance less than two weeks later. It left the group with a membership including coal producers and E. ON US, which has two utility subsidiaries.
