The near-shore Oyster 2 machine is all set to start pumping electricity to the grid by late summer.
Excalibur, owned by Dutch multinational Fugro, has begun drilling foundation piles into the seabed some 500 metres from shore at the Billia Croo site – part of the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC).
The Oyster 2 will be transported next month from its manufacturing site in Methil, Scotland, for immediate installation by Excalibur.
