The Tokyo-based company will soon start working on an environmental impact assessment (EIA) for a proposed development in the Sea of Japan, off the coast of Akita prefecture, Bloomberg said, citing company sources.

It tentatively plans to start building the project in 2020 and expects to complete it within four years.

In January, the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organisation (NEDO) — an industrial R&D entity under the Japanese government — revealed that it would work with Obayashi and conglomerate Marubeni to develop a 170MW wind farm off the port of Noshiro, Akita prefecture.
