What the company first reported as a relatively isolated incident last November now appears to potentially concern a more widespread structural vulnerability in several models.

The shift in emphasis came after cracks were found in the top tower flange welding of a 1.3MW turbine — cracks similar to those thought to have been responsible for the nacelle of a SWT-2.3-82 turbine shearing off from its tower at Paludans Flak offshore wind farm, off the Danish island of Samsø.
